Former President Uhuru Kenyatta today reasserted his leadership as the Jubilee Party Leader during the party’s Special National Delegates Conference at Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi, declaring that the party will now be guided by its members.
Speaking at the meeting, the Party Leader said the conference marked a turning point for Jubilee after months of wrangles and legal battles that had threatened to destabilise the party. He reminded delegates that the party had survived because of those who stood firm during turbulent times.
“We are grateful to all who stood firm and ensured the party’s leadership was restored,” he said.
The Party Leader turned to Jubilee’s record in government, stressing that the party had delivered tangible development across the country. He cited flagship projects that defined his administration, including major infrastructure and social programmes.
“We delivered the Standard Gauge Railway, Lamu Port, Kisumu Port, expanded electricity access, and introduced Linda Mama to support mothers,” he said.
He also looked ahead, telling delegates that the day marked a fresh start for the party. He urged members to embrace unity and remain focused on serving the people.
“Today we begin afresh, united as Jubilee, and determined to serve our people,” he said.
Among those present were former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, Vice Chair David Murathe, Deputy Organising Secretary Pauline Njoroge, former Gatundu North MP Wanjiku Kibe, and the Party Leader’s son John Jomo Kenyatta.
