UNIVERSITY STUDENT WINS KSH100,000 FOR NAMING MKU AUDITORIUM

Mount Kenya University (MKU) Nakuru Campus has awarded a student Ksh100,000 after she won a contest to name the institution’s newly constructed auditorium.
Hamia Adhiambo Ouma, a Diploma in Business Management student, emerged the winner with her entry “Infinite Quest Auditorium.” The panel of judges praised the name for its originality and its strong link to MKU’s motto, “Unlocking Infinite Possibilities.”
Ouma received the prize from MKU founder Prof. Simon Gicharu during the announcement ceremony. She revealed that she plans to invest the money in agriculture projects in Nyando Constituency, Kisumu County, focusing on rice farming and livestock. She also intends to support her husband in paying school fees.
The Infinite Quest Auditorium will be inaugurated on September 26, 2025, during the MKU Interdisciplinary Conference themed “Emerging Technologies and Sustainable Practices: Innovation in Agriculture, Health, Renewable Energy, and Business Practice.”
Campus Director Dr. Jacqueline Omuya noted that the contest demonstrated MKU’s commitment to not only expanding infrastructure but also empowering its students.
