WAMUNYORO VILLAGERS CLASH OVER THE DCP LOGO, 'WHICH EAR?'

Former, DP, Rigathi Gachagua was forced to pacify villagers in his Wamunyoro home after a heated clash over wether his newly formed Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) logo touches the right or left ear.

Taking to his official X on Friday, May 16, 2025, Gachagua highlighted that the friendly mayhem arose around the allegedly controversial symbol.

“On the afternoon of the unveiling of our party, Democracy for the Citizens Party, yesterday in Nairobi, there was a fiery debate and a friendly fight in my Wamunyoro village," he wrote.

DCP was unveiled by the ex-DP on 15th, May in Lavington, Nairobi, the headquarters. Barely a day, the Mathira villagers, who were celebrating the event of their 'son of the soil ', jumped into a heated debate, left or right ear

“The villagers couldn’t agree whether the party symbol is expressed by touching the left or right ear.”

What stated as a cheap jest turned into a fiery exchange of words. This tumult prompted the local leaders to summon the party leader, Gachagua clarification..
In a meeting on Friday, Gachagua cleared that the symbol touches the right ear not the left one.

“The elders, afraid of further escalation into the weekend, summoned me at night on a diplomatic mission and clarification. In the esteem I hold my elders, and the listening philosophy of our party, I have this morning, in the company of Hon. Njeri Maina and Hon. Mathenge, met the representatives of the village and clarified that it is the right EAR,” Gachagua confirmed in his X.

He also honoured the local leaders for warmly receiving his DCP.

“I deeply respect the elders of Wamunyoro and value the enthusiasm shown by the people. In our party, we believe in dialogue and clarity. I have therefore met with community leaders this morning to affirm that the correct gesture is touching the right ear,” he maintained.

The DCP slogan, 'sikiza ground' mandates the newly formed with a responsibility to address the issues that affect the common mwananchi in a democratic way.
“I further briefed them on the political happenings in the country and the 4th June 2025 grand launch of the DCP party,” he further revealed the dates for the final grand launch of DCP.
