BEATRICE CHEBET EARNS POLICE PROMOTION AFTER DOUBLE GOLD IN TOKYO

Kenya’s long-distance sensation Beatrice Chebet has been promoted in the Kenya Police Service after clinching two gold medals at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
Chebet stormed to victory in the women’s 10,000 metres, clocking 30:37.61, before edging compatriot Faith Kipyegon in a dramatic finish to win the 5,000 metres in 14:54.36.
Her remarkable feat prompted the Kenya Police Service to elevate her from Corporal to Sergeant, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to national pride. Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat announced the promotion as he welcomed the double world champion back to Nairobi.
The 25-year-old athlete, who also completed an Olympic double in Paris last year, said the honour motivates her to keep lifting Kenya’s flag high in future competitions.
