BOXING SQUAS TARGETS VICTORY

The national boxing team has intensified preparations for the upcoming Africa Zone 3 Boxing Championships, set to take place between October 16–24, 2025, at the Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The team, currently in camp at the Mathare Police Depot, is focusing on building strength, endurance, and tactical awareness under head coach Musa Benjamin and his technical bench of David Munuhe, John Waweru, John Ochieng, and Julius Theuri.

The squad is a blend of experience and youth, with veteran boxers like Boniface Mogunde, Shaffi Bakari, Ethan Maina, Peter Abuti, Amina Martha, Trizah Asiko, and Elizabeth Andiego being joined by young talented boxers eager to make an impression on Kenyan soil.
Andiego and Mogunde are optimistic Kenya will win the overall championship.
"We are aiming to sweep all the medals as hosts, and that's why preparations have been so rigorous," Andiego, one of the most experienced members of the team, said.

Boxing Federation of Kenya president Anthony "Jamal" Otieno was upbeat about the team's chances, calling the Zone 3 Championships an ideal platform for Kenya to prove its increasing boxing prowess.

One of the nation's top prospects, Mogunde, was equally optimistic: "I've finished with silver and bronze before, but not gold. By the grace of God and our hard work, I have no doubt this year's championship will stay in Kenya."
