CHEPKIRUI TARGETS GOLD AGAIN

Titleholder BingwaFest national champion over 1500m Purity Chepkirui will start her title defense this season when she takes to the track at the Nyanza Region leg at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium in Siaya on Thursday, September 25.
The second season of the multi-discipline sport extravaganza kicked off last month when Nakuru hosted the Rift Valley Region championships at the Afraha Stadium and will see teams and players vie for a share of the KES 17 million prize money purse per region.

Chepkirui is among more than 500 athletes who have already signed up to get a portion of the more than KES 6M prize money in the various track events on display.
The male and female athletes will receive equal prize money. Bib collection will be at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium on Wednesday.

Gold medalists in the high-stakes 10,000m will earn KES 300,000 while silver and bronze medalists will take home KES 250,000 and KES 200,000 respectively. The fourth and fifth-placed finishers will round off the prize money and will take home KES 100,000 and KES 75,000 respectively.
For 5,000m, the champions will get KES 250,000, second KES 150,000, third place KES 100,000, fourth position KES 50,000, and fifth position KES 30,000.

The prizes for the first five in the 100m, 4000m, 800m, and 1,500m will be the same, where the gold medalists win KES 150,000, the silver medalists KES 100,000, and the bronze medalists KES 60,000. The fourth and fifth will win KES 30,000 and KES 20,000.
As was the case in season one, there will be a free medical camp in Siaya during the weekend that will offer general consultation, specialist consultation, laboratory, and pharmacy services.
