In a significant move, Danilo has made the decision to part ways with Juventus, opting to join Flamengo as his next destination. The experienced 33-year-old defender is set to make his return to Brazil, with his representatives now engaging in discussions with the Italian club to finalize the termination of his contract, which is expected to be resolved shortly.
Danilo was swayed by Flamengo’s interest, particularly since he has openly expressed his admiration for the club, influenced by his family's longstanding support for the team. Additionally, his former national teammate, Filipe Luís, and close friend, full-back Alex Sandro, have played pivotal roles in persuading the defender to make the switch.
Despite receiving offers from Napoli to continue his adventure in Italy, as well as from Santos, where his professional journey began, Danilo has chosen to align himself with the Rubro-Negro. The Rio de Janeiro club is on the verge of sealing this crucial transfer during the current window, addressing their need for defensive reinforcement.
Danilo heads home after extensive 13-year period in European football, which included stints at Porto, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Juventus. He initially left Santos in 2012 to pursue opportunities abroad, marking a significant chapter in his career.
