Eastland Hotel, a popular 4-star hotel in the city, has been placed under receivership by Equity Bank. In a notice dated Thursday, September 11, 2025, Equity Bank announced the appointment of Kamal Anantroy Bhatt of Anant Bhatt LLP as the Receiver and Manager of the hotel.
“Notice is hereby given that Kamal Anantroy Bhatt and Jai Kamal Bhatt, of Anant Bhatt LLP, were appointed as Joint Receivers and Managers (‘the Receivers’) of Eastland Hotel Limited (‘the Company’) on September 9, 2025, by Equity Bank (Kenya) Limited (‘the Bank’),” read part of the notice.
The notice further stated that its purpose was to inform all stakeholders that, following the Receivers’ appointment, the affairs and business of the company would henceforth be directed by the Receivers.
Their powers extend to all assets and undertakings of the hotel, and only they or their authorized representatives may deal with them. Equity Bank also cautioned that any individual engaging in transactions involving the hotel’s assets, whether through use, purchase, sale, or other dealings, without the Receiver’s prior written consent, would be contravening the law and subject to legal consequences.
“The powers of the Directors in terms of dealing with the Company’s business and assets no longer apply. Any person who purports to hold, receive, use, buy, sell, contract, or otherwise deal with the assets of the Company without the prior written consent of the Receivers will be acting in contravention of the law and liable to legal action,” the notice added.
