GACHAGUA BREATHES A SIGH OF RELIEF

Ex-Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua has regained fresh political muscles following the appeal court's decision to declare his impeachment unconstitutional, having the honours , he explained of his forthcoming political plans.

Speaking during a Sunday service in Juja, Kiambu county on May,11, Gachagua divulged into launching his political party, set for May, 15.

“This coming week I will launch my party and there will be a huge party afterwards, and I hope you will all attend," he said.

Gachagua continued throwing jabs at his former boss, President William Ruto, accusing him of planning to form minor parties , which would challenge his upcoming political outfit, but he dismissed their influence over the people.
"I know Ruto will be launching smaller parties. He will even try to field presidential candidates in the mountains, but we will not accept. People know their party, and they will know their candidate in due time,” he stated.

Moreover, he overlooked speculations on possible rigging of elections, gaining confidence from the 2013 Supreme Court verdict that mandated the polling stations with the rights of determining the elections outcome.

"The issue of the IEBC, don't worry. The Supreme Court in 2013 ruled that the polling station result is final. That is important. Those in the IEBC are tallying their work. So there is no problem. The important thing is to register to vote," he urged his audience.

The former number two could not have left the platform without touching on his recent win.
The Court of appeal faulted the October 2024 ruling to impeach Gachagua from his DP,s office, stating that, the Deputy Chief Justice, Philomena Mwilu had no privilege to empanel the 3- bench judges that oversaw Gachagua's impeachment. Instead, only the Chief Justice, Martha Koome is jurisidicted to handle such issues.

Following this, he expressed his confidence in the Judiciary to dismiss his impeachment and free him from running for an electoral seat.

“The framers of the 2010 Constitution created four levels of judicial intervention—the Magistrate’s Court, the High Court, the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court. If you don’t get justice in one level, you move to the next. I believe the judiciary will rescue me, and justice will prevail for the people of Kenya,” Gachagua affirmed.

He went on revealing of his consultations with other opposition leaders on who would be best to face off with President Ruto in the August polls.

“I assure you that in 2027, we will be ready. Kalonzo, Karua, Matiang’i, Wamalwa, and I will sit and agree on one candidate. We are united in our mission to liberate this country,” he cleared.

He also named former Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi, former Public Service CS Justin Muturi, and ex-Minister Mukhisa Kituyi as part of his growing Wamunyoro team.
