GOVERNOR ORENGO RETURNS FROM US MEDICAL TOUR

Siaya Governor James Orengo has returned to the country after spending close to a month in the United States for medical attention, finally ending weeks of speculation surrounding his whereabouts and wellbeing.

The seasoned politician quietly landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Tuesday night, arriving aboard an Emirates flight—just a day after reports emerged confirming that he had been receiving treatment abroad. His return follows mounting public concern and questions over the prolonged silence from his office.

Governor Orengo was last seen in public on June 23, when he attended a Senate committee meeting in Nairobi. He reportedly departed the country shortly afterward. Earlier that month, on June 5, he had led a team of Siaya County leaders to State House for talks aimed at mending strained ties between the county and the national government.

In his absence, the county leadership came under scrutiny, with critics pointing to a perceived leadership gap. Some local leaders and residents expressed discomfort with what they described as overreach by certain officials, especially, County Assembly Speaker George Okode, who appeared to step into a more prominent public role during the governor’s absence.

While no official statement has been issued detailing Governor Orengo’s health condition, his arrival back home is expected to ease political tensions and bring clarity to governance matters that had raised eyebrows during his time away.

As the governor settles back into office, attention now shifts to how he will address concerns about the county's leadership dynamics and reassert his authority in the wake of his month-long medical hiatus and resignation claims.
