Tickets for the opening match of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) between Kenya’s Harambee Stars and DR Congo have officially sold out, organizers confirmed.
The highly anticipated clash, set to take place on August 3 at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, has seen overwhelming demand, with all ticket categories — including VVIP, VIP, and regular — now fully booked.
Kenya is co-hosting this year’s CHAN tournament alongside Uganda and Tanzania, under the joint “PAMOJA 2024” initiative. The opener between the hosts and DR Congo marks a historic moment as Kenya returns to the continental football stage following recent infrastructural upgrades and increased investment in local football.
According to the Local Organizing Committee, online ticket sales through the official platform chan.mookh.com witnessed a surge in the past 48 hours, prompting the early sell-out. Fans are being urged to avoid unauthorized vendors amid concerns over counterfeit tickets.
Kenya, making their third appearance at CHAN, will be looking to impress on home soil, with head coach Engin Firat optimistic about his squad’s chances.
The tournament will run until September 7, with group stage matches spread across Nairobi, Kampala, and Dar es Salaam.
