In a statement dated Friday, September 19, 2025, KETRACO’s Board of Directors said the decision followed consultations with various stakeholders.

Before the leadership changes were announced, the outgoing CEO appeared to have prior knowledge of the move. In a statement dated Friday, September 19, 2025, accompanied by photos of him being interviewed by various media outlets, Mativo highlighted his achievements during his tenure.
“It’s been a great pleasure sharing my experience and vision to expand the high-voltage grid to ensure Kenya and the region have reliable and adequate power for both present and future needs — a grid that guarantees Kenyans access to cheaper green energy. For God and Country,” he said.
