KENYA FACES 21-DAY ULTIMATUM OVER ANTI-DOPING BREACH

Kenya has been given 21 days to fix serious shortcomings in its anti-doping system or face sweeping global sanctions.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) declared the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) non-compliant with its code after a May 2024 audit found unresolved failures. WADA’s executive committee issued a formal notice on September 11, giving Kenya until October 2 to either dispute the findings or prove corrective action.
If Kenya misses the deadline, WADA could strip ADAK of key privileges, bar Kenyan representatives from WADA committees and block the country from hosting sanctioned events.
While the warning does not accuse Kenyan athletes of new doping violations, it threatens the reputation of a nation renowned for its world-class distance runners and could hamper Kenya’s influence in global athletics.
