KENYA MET LISTS REGIONS SET FOR RAINFALL THIS WEEK

The Kenya Meteorological Department has announced that several parts of the country will receive rainfall between September 23 and 29, even as much of Kenya remains hot and dry.
According to the department’s weekly forecast, showers are expected in the highlands west of the Rift Valley, including Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega and Vihiga counties. The Lake Victoria Basin—covering Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay and Migori—will also experience intermittent afternoon and evening rains.
Light rainfall is further projected over the highlands east of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, Nyeri, Kiambu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, and parts of Meru and Embu, as well as north-western Kenya, notably Turkana and parts of West Pokot.
Elsewhere, most of the eastern, coastal and northern regions will remain sunny and dry, with strong southerly to south-easterly winds exceeding 25 knots expected in the coast, north-eastern, south-eastern lowlands and parts of north-west Kenya. The Met Department has also cautioned of chilly nights and cold mornings in the Central Highlands, Central Rift and areas around Mt Kilimanjaro, where minimum temperatures may dip below 10°C.
Residents in the forecasted wet areas have been urged to plan for occasional afternoon showers and possible strong winds.
