KINDIKI REJECTS DIVISIVE POLITICS

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki vowed to continue pushing for equitable development across Kenya, calling for an end to ethnic and divisive politics bedeviling the nation's socio-economic development.

The Deputy President spoke on Wednesday while meeting with thousands of area leaders and Kitui County residents at his home in Irunduni, Tharaka Nithi County.
He again emphasized the government's readiness to collaborate with all leaders, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka included, regardless of their regional, party, or religion attachment, with the guarantee of the administration's readiness to serve all Kenyans.

"The politics of pitting Kenyans against each other, instilling hatred and division has no room in Kenya. The government is entrusted by the people to speak for all Kenyans regardless of how they voted. Our Constitution protects all Kenyans from discrimination of any kind," DP noted.
Moreover, Prof. Kindiki added that all parts of the country will be developed equally, shunning attempts by opposition to balkanise the nation into old voting blocs.

In accordance with this goal, the DP pointed to a number of multi-billion-shilling projects in progress in Kitui as well as those lined up.

They include the construction of Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui town at a price of Ksh.800 million and the renovation of Ithookwe Airstrip for Ksh.150 million ahead of Mashujaa Day Celebrations next month. Kitui town has also received a drastic face-lift through re-carpeting of roads to enhance its status ahead of the celebrations on October 20.

We are in the right direction to build a better Kenya, a Kenya that does not discriminate in any way. All the 47 counties should grow because they ought to grow. They are part of Kenya and I will make sure that is done," he stated.
Kitui is one of the leading beneficiaries of last-mile connectivity after being allocated Ksh.2.1 billion targeting connecting another 16,000 households.

Construction of the low-cost housing estates and hostels is ongoing in Kitui town, South Eastern Kenya University, all the KMTC campuses and technical colleges within the region such as Tseikuru and Mwingi TTIs.

Also, 12 new modern markets are also being constructed in Kisasi, Zombe, Ikutha, Nuu, Mwingi, among others.

Stalled roads have been reactivated, such as Kwa Vonza-Ikutha, Zombe-Kyuluni Roads, among others, for which tenders have already been floated by the government.

DP is also fast-tracking Enziu Bridge in Mwingi, whom he promised to go see its work in the coming days.
"We will continue working with leaders in Kitui to speed up development. I will be working for Kitui development, and I will not let you down," he promised.
