KUCCPS TO OPEN 2025 INTER-UNIVERSITY TRANSFER PORTAL

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced that inter-institutional transfers for students placed in the 2025/2026 academic year will open on July 14, 2025, and close on August 24, 2025. This was communicated by KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome in a notice addressed to Vice Chancellors.

 During this period, students who were placed through KUCCPS for the 2025/2026 cycle will have the opportunity to change their programmes or institutions by applying through the KUCCPS online portal. Dr. Wahome emphasized that, in line with standard practice, KUCCPS offers a structured opportunity for students who wish to revise their placements, provided they adhere to the specified procedures and timelines.

The inter-institutional transfer process involves several steps. First, the student initiates a transfer request online through the KUCCPS student portal. Once submitted, the receiving institution reviews and endorses the application through its portal. The current (releasing) institution then accesses the application and formally releases the student online. After both institutions have endorsed the request, the application is forwarded to KUCCPS for final approval. Upon approval, a transfer letter is generated. The student must then download this letter and present it to the receiving institution, which will issue admission and joining instructions. Both the releasing and receiving institutions will be able to access a final transfer report through their respective institutional portals.

During the processing of Inter-Faculty or Inter-Programme transfers within degree programmes, universities are required to strictly follow the specific cut-off points and minimum subject requirements for each programme as set out by KUCCPS. To apply for an inter-institutional transfer, students should begin by logging into the KUCCPS Student’s Portal at students.kuccps.net. On the dashboard, they should select the “Transfer Application” tab. From there, the student enters the code of the institution and programme they wish to transfer to and selects an appropriate reason for the transfer.

 A non-refundable application fee of Ksh1,000 must be paid following the payment instructions provided. The transfer application is then submitted using the eCitizen Payment Reference Code. Students can track the status of their application through the same portal. Students are allowed to apply for only one transfer and only once throughout the duration of their placement. It is strongly recommended that applicants carefully review the available programmes and their respective requirements before initiating a transfer request.
