A man was arrested on Sunday afternoon after scaling a gate at the U.S. Treasury Building in the nation’s capital, according to the U.S. Secret Service.
The incident occurred on Sunday July 27, 2025, around 2:30 p.m., when the unidentified man climbed over the fence surrounding the building. Before entering, he dropped a bag on the sidewalk outside the perimeter, prompting a security response.
Washington D.C.'s Metropolitan Police Department’s bomb squad was called to assess the package. Authorities later confirmed that the bag posed no explosive threat.
The man, who faces charges of unlawful entry, was also found to have an outstanding warrant in another jurisdiction. Following his arrest, he was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.
No Secret Service protectees were at the nearby White House at the time of the breach. The motive for the man’s actions remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
