A first-half opener by defender Nayef Aguerd gave Marseille a 1-0 win over defending champions Paris Saint-Germain on Monday, a rare victory over their big rivals in a storm-deLAYed match played 24 hours late.
Moroccan defender Aguerd, signed from West Ham United in the recent transfer window, netted his second goal in two successive Ligue 1 games for his new club with five minutes having passed at the Velodrome.

PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier dashed for a deflected Mason Greenwood cross but failed to make contact with the ball, and Aguerd was able to head into the vacant net and score the solitary goal of the game.
"We don't habitually lose games," replied PSG coach Luis Enrique, whose team were unbeaten in Ligue 1 last term until the final weekend in April.
"I wanted to see more from my team and we felt we deserved a little bit more. It is always tough to lose a game like this but we are champions and we have to keep going and get ready as best as we can for the next game.

The match, French football's biggest, was initially planned for Sunday but was delayed as local authorities feared the anticipated heavy rain could be a huge danger to fans and players.
There isn't much space in a crowded calendar and both clubs are playing in the Champions League, so the game was put back just one day.
That was inconvenient for PSG as it coincided with the Ballon d'Or awards night in Paris where a number of their players were nominated for the men's player of the year award.

Included in them was Ousmane Dembele, the top scorer in the Champions League champions last season who was exempted from going to the ceremony after being hurt out of the Marseille game.
Luis Enrique would have preferred to have Dembele on the pitch, joined by other injury omissions Desire Doue and Joao Neves.

Achraf Hakimi was deployed further forward from his customary right-back position to the wing, but still, it was a sturdy Paris team.
But Marseille held the benefit in the aftermath of the early goal to secure an initial home league victory over PSG since November of 2011.

Aguerd's goal was the first time they had even scored at home against PSG in Ligue 1 since 2017. Amine Gouiri also hit the bar towards the end of it as Marseille attempted to widen the gap.
The home side were also denied a goal through offside in the first half, before keeper Geronimo Rulli made a few crucial saves to prevent the visitors from getting back into it after halftime.

Marseille kept the clock ticking, but only after tempers were flared on the touchline when red-hot coach Roberto De Zerbi was given a late red card.
PSG's first defeat of the season, having won their first four games of the Ligue 1 season. They fall off the top of the league on goals scored behind Monaco.
Both teams share 12 points, as Lyon and Strasbourg complete the top four.
Marseille sit in sixth position, three points adrift of the top four.
