MEDICS SAY THEY WON’T PROVIDE SERVICES TO ANYONE INJURED DURING PROTESTS

As some Kenyans prepare to participate in Saba Saba demonstrations on Monday, July 7, 2025, medical professionals and unions such as the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists Union (KMPDU) and the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers have announced that their members would not be available to provide medical assistance to those injured during the coming protests. They cited previous instances where healthcare workers were attacked by hired goons while offering aid during similar demonstrations.

As a result, business owners from different parts of the county held meetings with security officers to strategize on protecting their businesses during the protests. Many expressed frustrations over the deteriorating security situation, noting that several shops have been broken into and looted during protests, leading to business losses. Residents have been urged to maintain calm and exercise their right to protest peacefully. Officials warned that continued demonstrations could jeopardize national peace and stability.
