MUHORONI YOUTH FC APPOINTS OSCAR SUDI AS NEW CLUB PATRON

The legislator made the revelation at a ceremony in Muhoroni, Kisumu County, where the management and supporters of the club had gathered to witness what is being referred to as a new dawn for the team.
In a statement released immediately after the event, Muhoroni Youth appreciated the legislator for the appointment and committed to working closely with him to restore the club to competitiveness and regain its stature.

The appointment comes at the right moment for the club, which has been undergoing serious challenges in the last year.

In May 2025, FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee sanctioned Muhoroni Youth for alleged match manipulation, resulting in their relegation from the National Super League to the FKF Division One.

The decision dealt a heavy blow to the team, which was once a strong contender in Kenya’s top-tier league and had previously lifted national titles.
Oscar Sudi’s appointment is expected to inject renewed hope and political goodwill into the club.
One of the most vocal and powerful voices in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Oscar Sudi has been known to be an active player in community development initiatives.

His recent visits to Muhoroni and surrounding communities, where he had meetings with leaders and youth clubs, showed his growing interest in grassroots football and sport development.

Speaking during the launching ceremony, Sudi showed his willingness to facilitate the reawakening of the club and empowering young talent in the region.
Muhoroni Youth, founded in 2003, had a steady rise up through the ranks of Kenyan football, to the heights of a stint in the Kenyan Premier League.

The team earned respect with its competitiveness and ability to nurture local talent. Recent years were, however, unstable, with financial difficulties, government problems, and finally the FIFA disciplinary measure that saw them relegated to the third level of Kenyan football.

The hiring of a high-profile sponsor such as Sudi is perceived as a strategic act to re-establish stability and attract the resources required for the reconstruction.

In the past, political leaders have exerted strong influences at Kenyan football clubs, often providing funding and mobilizing the support of private and public sectors.
