MURKOMEN: MUTURI SHOULD BE JAILED

Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen has fired at former head of Public Service , Justin Muturi for allegedly withholding crucial documents under government confidentiality, insisting that such actions deserve legal interventions.

During a round table interview with Mombasa journalists, Murkomen explained that Muturi took a confidentiality oath while assuming office as Attorney General, and he ought to maintain the requirements of the oath in handling government documents.

"You swore to confidentiality and could not be having them for two years because you're dealing with corruption. That's not true, he's not the first AG to be fired." Murkomen said.

He stated that Muturi is playing a sinister move to deliberately withhold these critical government documents, claiming that in other countries, he could literally be jailed .

"The AG at the time said he had kept the documents on email. In another country, he could have been arrested because the principle of how to handle government documents is known," he said.

The CS used an example of former US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton who was subjected under legal sermoning in 2016 , on counts of threatening national security by allegedly using her private email to handle government- related roles .

"In the US, if those documents are in your email, that's a serious national security. You remember what happened to Hillary Clinton; one of the biggest problems was that she was communicating with her personal email on national security issues," Murkomen said.

"The Attorney General handles classified documents, all of them, almost stamped top secret. The objective is that these documents are government documents. For one of them to say, from the time he joined office, he was photocopying documents, it's nauseating because they are not personal documents, " the CS added.

Murkomen's concerns comes days after , Muturi accused President Ruto of being irredeemably corrupt and unfit for office, in an interview on NTV, Muturi furthered that he had softcopy versions of the documents to prove his allegations against Ruto.

The Interior CS also responded to Muturi's claims of his security being withdrawn due to his constant criticism of the government, pointing out that they could probably be scaled down since he was fired as CS;

"It could be a scale down since he’s no longer a CS. I’ll seek clarification from the IG. We don’t play politics in security matters. It’s a matter for the IG level unless he’s escalating it to reach my level," the CS added.

Earlier in the day, Muturi had claimed that his security, that accrue to him by virtue of being retired Speaker was commanded not resume their daily duties.

“If this is another attempt to intimidate me, they have dialled yet another wrong number," Muturi insisted.
