NYERI MCA ARRESTED BY DCI

Nyawira wa Kariuki, a Member of County Assembly (MCA) allied to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has been arrested and is currently in police custody.

The arrest was first made public on Sunday, June 8, by Kameme FM radio presenter Muthoni, popularly known as Baby Top. In a social media post, Muthoni stated, “On my way to Kasarani Police Station. We belong to the God who rules over tombs,” hinting at the MCA’s detention.

Further confirmation came from Gladys Nyawira, a close associate of the MCA, who revealed that Nyawira wa Kariuki is being held at Kasarani Police Station. “Nyawira wa Kariuki has been arrested by DCI. Currently at Kasarani Police Station. Release our cousin,” she wrote.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the reason for the arrest, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has not responded to public inquiries.

The incident has drawn attention online, particularly among supporters of the former deputy president, with calls emerging for the MCA's release and for clarity on the charges she may be facing.
