OUSTING RUTO WOULD NOT BE EASY - WAMALWA

Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has warned that President William Ruto could secure a second term with ease if the opposition goes into the 2027 General Election divided.

Speaking on Saturday, August 23, during the memorial service marking 22 years since the death of his brother, former Vice President Michael Wamalwa Kijana, the former Defence Cabinet Secretary said the opposition must put aside personal ambitions if it hopes to unseat Ruto.

"Removing this government of Ruto will not be easy. It will be similar to how difficult it was to unseat Daniel Moi in 1992, when the opposition was divided, which enabled him to win, the same as 1997," Wamalwa said.

He reminded opposition leaders that it took the spirit of sacrifice and selflessness in 2002 for the opposition to finally end KANU’s dominance when Mwai Kibaki defeated Uhuru Kenyatta.

"If we want to remove Ruto from power, then we need to be as selfless as the late Michael Wamalwa Kijana's team in 2002. They succeeded because they were selfless, they were ready to sacrifice ambitions for the greater good of the country," he stated.

Wamalwa called on Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, and ex-Interior CS Fred Matiang’i to put aside rivalries and rally together, warning that disunity will only hand Ruto another easy victory.
