PRESIDENT RUTO'S CRYPTIC BLAST ON ' THE STANDARD ' HEADLINES

President William Ruto has castigated those who are against the broad based government, subtly pointing out on " The Standard ' newspaper headline, which termed the pact as a 'betrayal'.

Speaking during an Easter Sunday service in Ntulele, Narok County, on Sunday , April 20, Ruto termed his unison with Raila as God- ordained.

"You can see today we are seated here—Azimio and Kenya Kwanza governments. The unity we are pushing in Kenya is divine and God-ordained. That is how we can be blessed as a nation—if we are united," he stated.

However, he didn't mention the name of the newspaper, ' The Standard ' but cryptically narrowed down to its bold headline, “those telling us through newspapers that unity is betrayal.”

"How shameful and tragic, while the bishop is telling us that nothing is impossible when we are united. The devil has a different message against unity in our nation. May the devil be defeated," the head of state added.

The publication metaphorically compared the Ruto-Raila pact to Judas Iscariot betraying Jesus just for personal gain. The cover page likened this betrayal to the Biblical Eden story where the stay in haven was ravaged by loss of trust.

"Just as the biblical Eden was lost through defiance and betrayal, so too has Kenya's dream of a just and prosperous nation been squandered by those entrusted to guard it."

The broad based pact was birthed upon the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which saw ODM and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) working together.

Moreover, 'The Standard ' have been publishing headlines which question the authenticity of the Ruto-Raila merger and the Sunday's headline stirred the water against the president.
