RAPHAEL TUJU RESIGNS FROM JUBILEE PARTY

Former Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju has officially resigned from the Uhuru Kenyatta–led party.
In a letter dated August 19, 2025, and addressed to former President Kenyatta, Tuju said he no longer saw any value he could add to Jubilee, though he expressed readiness to collaborate with Kenyatta in the future.
Tuju, who served as Jubilee Secretary General between 2016 and 2022, reflected on his tenure, saying he was proud of his contribution despite coming from the Luo community, in a party largely anchored in Kikuyu and Kalenjin strongholds.
The former minister noted that he had been away from the country for six weeks and was not fully abreast with the latest developments in the party. He nonetheless thanked Kenyatta and the party for the opportunity, while recalling Jubilee’s internal strains that emerged after the 2018 handshake and the fallout with William Ruto.
Tuju’s resignation marks another blow to Jubilee, which has in recent months faced sharp internal wrangles and questions over its future direction.
