TANZANIA'S OPPOSITION WOUNDS GROW SORE

As Kenya works towards exercising and finally strengthening her democracy, things seems to grow south in her South Eastern neighbour.

Tanzanian President, Samia Suluhu seems to be ruling with an iron rod against opposition. First was the imprisonment of Tanzania's opposition leader Tundu Lisu, deportation of Kenyan activists and the recent detention and alleged torture of activists, Boniface Mwangi and Agather.

Days after the exoneration of the two activists , the Tanzanian government has installed stringent measures to counter any possible opposition .
Speaking of stringent measures, Tanzanian Opposition politician, Godbless Lema has reportedly been barred from traveling to Nairobi for urgent medical treatment.

Taking to his social media on 6, Friday, Lema expressed his frustrations with having to wait for four hours at the Namanga border post, despite being illed – his passport had been seized by Tanzanian Immigration Officials, hampering his transition.

He was later told to report to Immigration Headquarters in Dodoma, forcing him to return to his Arusha home.

The Chadema Party Member was to urgently see a doctor in Nairobi on Saturday but his efforts were watered down leaving him in unbearable pain.

“I wanted to hate Immigration, but they’re not at fault. This path I’ve chosen is tough for me and my family,” he wrote highlighting a possible upward force working behind the Immigration offices, aimed at oppression the opposition.

The former Law Maker, who had returned to the Nation from exile in Canada after suffering the same atrocities , explained that his Friday encounter was so unfortunate and he could not wish the same experience to the forthcoming generations , even the worst of his enemies.

However, he continued promising that they will overcome one day.
