President Ruto will be returning to the mountain since his last visit in August 2024 for a five-day working tour to launch various projects in the region .
According to analysts, this is Ruto's strategic move secure some votes, from the area which has presumably lost their trust in him.
Barely a day to his Mt Kenya visit, his former Deputy Rigathi Gachagua has incited the ground to confront the President on why he was impeached from office and other Mount Kenya leaders removed from State positions.
Taifa Leo publication has it that, Gachagua also challenged the residents to deny Ruto time to address the people , stating that Ruto shouldn't be allowed more that 20 minutes to speak to people warning that they might start believing him.
Ruto's Litmus Test will be, how to pacify the ground that propelled him to presidency in the 2022 elections, and has since lost confidence in him.
Some days back, he dispatched his Deputy Prof Ki-thure Kindiki to prepare the way for him and appease the restive 'murima'.
The Mount Kenya visit would act as means of gauging the political muscles of Ruto and Gachagua in the region. Will the president be able to sell his ideas, and convince the ground? or will the Gachagua effect compromise this?
This is the Mt.Kenya Litmus Test.
