ONANA HOSPITALISED AFTER MULTI-CAR CRASH

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana and his family have escaped injury following a multi-vehicle road accident in Turkey on Thursday evening, hours after helping Trabzonspor secure a 2-0 victory over Scottish side Hearts in the UEFA Conference League.

The Cameroonian international was driving home with his family when another vehicle reportedly rammed into the rear of his car in the Yomra district of Trabzon, triggering a chain collision that pushed his vehicle into another car ahead.

According to Turkish media reports cited by Reuters, the incident occurred along a road in northern Turkey shortly after Trabzonspor's European fixture.

Onana was taken to a local hospital for medical assessment following the crash but was discharged shortly afterwards after doctors found no serious injuries. The goalkeeper and his family were reported to have emerged from the incident unharmed, although the ordeal left them shaken.

Images circulating on social media showed significant damage to the vehicles involved, with Onana's car sustaining damage to its front section and the vehicle that struck it from behind appearing badly damaged.

Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan moved to reassure supporters following the incident, confirming that the goalkeeper was in good condition.

“Andre Onana was involved in a road traffic accident earlier this evening. There are no problems with him, and we wish him a speedy recovery,” Doğan said, according to reports carried by GOAL.

Club officials also reportedly went to the scene to check on the player's condition.

The accident came on the same evening Onana had helped Trabzonspor keep a clean sheet in their 2-0 win over Hearts, delivering a positive performance for the Turkish club in the European competition.

The 30-year-old joined Trabzonspor on loan from Manchester United in 2025 after a difficult spell at Old Trafford. The temporary move has given him an opportunity to secure regular playing time and rebuild his form away from the pressures of the English Premier League.

Before the accident, Onana had been working to establish himself as an important figure in Trabzonspor's campaign, with his performance against Hearts providing another encouraging moment in his loan spell.

His situation will continue to attract attention from both clubs, although the initial reports indicate that he did not suffer serious injuries in the crash.

Manchester United are expected to remain attentive to developments concerning their loanee as he continues his stint in Turkey. However, with Onana reportedly given the all-clear, there was no immediate indication that the accident would lead to a prolonged absence from football.
