UN HONOURS KENYAN SOLDIERS FOR EXCELLENCE

Kenyan troops serving under the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) have been recognized by the UN for their outstanding service and commitment to peace.
In a statement on Saturday, October 4 2025, the Kenya Defense Forces announced that members of the Kenya Signals Company 3 (KENSIG 3) were awarded UN service medals on October 2 for their “professionalism and performance”.
“The Kenya Signals Company 3 (KENSIG 3) troops serving under the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO), were on 2nd October 2025, awarded UN Service Medals,” confirmed a statement from the Kenya Ministry of Defence.
The medal parade held at MONUSCO’s Force Headquarters was presided over by Madam Vivian van de Perre, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (DSRSG), and Major General Khar Diouf, MONUSCO’s Deputy Commander.
Madam Vivian commended the Kenyan soldiers for their selfless contribution, saying their work formed the foundation of the mission’s success.
“The work of a Signals Company often goes unnoticed, yet it forms the backbone of our mission. Without your expertise, reliability, and innovation, the command, control, and coordination of MONUSCO’s operations would be extremely difficult,” she said.
